Dates and Deadlines

Against the backdrop of a profession whose image is constantly changing, the Faculty is guided by its claim to provide generalist academic architecture studies in the form of its Master program. Here, the focus is on design and structural aspects, which account for over half of the program content. In cooperative ventures that can change in terms of subject and people, all our faculty put current issues in construction, in social and technological change in society, and in maintaining our cultural heritage, as well as the cultural and historical identity of cities and regions, at the center of their teaching and research.

Degree Content

There are five main topics within the Faculty of Architecture:

  • Cultural and Historical Fundamentals
  • Design, Portrayal, Visualization, Communication
  • Design and Drafting
  • Building Planning and Design
  • Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Design

The content and qualification goals of the RWTH Aachen Faculty of Architecture courses of study and modules use the standards of professional associations for archictects and urban planners and the standards of European and international educational guidelines as minimum standards. These demands are first fulfilled after completion of both courses of study (Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of Science in Architecture resp. Master of Science in Urban Planning). You can find detailed information on the faculty website.

The prerequisite for admission to the program is an initial university degree. The required academic background is described in the exam regulations. The determination on whether or not the admissions requirements are met is made by the examination board. More information can be found on the Faculty's webpage.

Examination Regulations

Regulations that apply for all Bachelor and Master courses of study as well as detailed information about the necessary documentation of required language skills can be found in RWTH’s Comprehensive Examination Regulation. Examination regulations are only published in German as they are legally binding.

Subject Specific Exam Regulations regulate academic goals, the course of study layout, and exam procedures. The appendix to the regulations contains the description of the modules, from which the course of study is composed.

The Master course of study in Architecture is offered by the Faculty of Architecture .
